Happy New Year, everyone! 2019 seemed to have only just started to warm up and get moving when it was mid-December and we were stuffing ourselves silly across Christmas. But here we are; at the start of the Roaring 20’s, ready to meet the challenges of a new decade. Some of those are self-inflicted New Year Resolutions. We’re here to explain how CBD can help make your promises to self-improve stick.

Before we jump in, let’s shake off the cobwebs picked up over Christmas and remind ourselves what CBD is and how it works. CBD (short for Cannabidiol) oil is a naturally occurring chemical compound extracted primarily from the hemp plant. There is still some confusion around hemp and CBD oil’s legality. Hemp and marijuana derive from the Cannabis sativa plant. However, Marijuana has high levels of THC, (Tetrahydrocannabinol), a naturally occurring chemical compound and produces the psychoactive “high” experienced when consumed.  On the other hand, hemp has an extremely low THC content, meaning that CBD has no ability to intoxicate you.

Resolution 1: Lose weight

Surprise, surprise, our number one New Year’s resolution is to lose weight. According to a 2017 UK Government study, up to 64.3% of people in the UK are either overweight or obese. CBD is not a magic bullet for helping us to lose weight; however, there have been some interesting studies which have evidenced CBD reducing appetite in animals and other studies which suggest that CBD stimulates fat burning. CBD used in conjunction with fat burning products such as MCT oil may make for a stunning combination. CBD Bullet Coffee, anyone?

Resolution 2: Feel Less Tired!

Many of us want to feel more rested, which can be achieved through getting more, better quality sleep. CBD can prove fundamentally useful here. A PubMed Central study published in 2019 looked at whether CBD could improve sleep and or reduce anxiety. The study involved 72 subjects, with 47 experiencing anxiety and 25 experiencing poor sleep. The subjects were each given 25 milligrams (mg) of CBD in capsule form each day. In the first month, 79.2 percent of the patients reported lower anxiety levels and 66.7 percent reported better sleep. If used in conjunction with a complimentary bedtime routine (translation: ‘turn off the mobile phone!’), a few drops of CBD oil before bed may be the key to achieving a decent night’s rest

Resolution 3: Get more exercise

Ah, the old nemesis: the promise to move more, which instantly compromises our natural wintertime instincts to stay inside in the warm on the sofa, binge-watching Netflix and polishing off the last of the mince pies. Kickstarting a fitness routine can also be the source of sore muscles after the first few days – not the most attractive thought. Luckily, CBD is an excellent recovery tool, and the better you recover the more you can exercise! Take it as part of your post-workout routine; put a few drops into your protein shake or into your water. Alternatively, a few squares of CBD chocolate is the perfect post-exercise recovery treat.

Resolution 4: Quit smoking

Yes, some of us still smoke, despite the health warnings. But help is at hand, through CBD. Several studies suggest that CBD may have beneficial properties to counter addictions relating to opioids, cocaine, stimulants and nicotine. As one of the active (and most damaging) chemicals found in cigarettes, the study found that CBD helped participants reduce cigarette consumption

What are Some Major Factors to Keep in Mind When Buying CBD Vape Oil?

Easily, one of the most popular ways to enjoy cannabidiol is to do so in the form of a CBD vape oil.  Here at Pure CBD Vapors, we offer a wide variety of CBD-infused vaping goods that allow you to inhale those compounds for fast activation and a super user-friendly experience.  But you should know that not every CBD vape juice available on the market is created equally.  That is why we will be discussing the seven most important factors that you need to consider when shopping for CBD e-juice.

How is CBD Vape Oil Vaped?

Before we get into the numerous purchasing considerations, we need to quickly cover how CBD is vaped.  CBD e-liquid is designed to be vaped out of a CBD-compatible vaping system.  Using bottled CBD vape oils allows vapers to easily refill a CBD vape pen’s cartridge or tank multiple times.

How Do They Differ, and What Should You Take into Consideration?

Now that we explained that crucial point, you will see that there are many ways in which hemp vapes can vary from product to product.  Knowing what to look for will ensure that you have as satisfying of an experience as is possible.

Factor #1: Milligram Strength/Potency Level

One of the main things to pay attention to when choosing the right formula is the milligram strength, which refers to the potency level.  On the packaging and labeling of every CBD vape oil, you will find the milligram strength, which is simply the number of milligrams of hemp oil in the formula.  The higher the milligram strength, the more potent each dose will be, so make sure to choose your milligram strength properly so that you enjoy the right amount of potency while you vape your hemp.  On our website, we carry strengths ranging from 25mg up to 4000mg.

To calculate the proper strength, first determine how many drops are in the bottle.  To do this, simply multiply the number of drops in a dropper’s worth of oil by the number of milliliters inside the bottle.  Next, divide the bottle’s milligram strength by the number of drops. Now, you know how many drops of oil to vape to take in (x) milligrams. As time goes on, you can adjust the milligrams per vaping session as you see fit.

Factor #2: Flavor

How your CBD e-liquid tastes, matters a lot more than you may think.  The goal with hemp is to maintain a consistent routine, as this ensures that our body can put those compounds to use as efficiently as possible.  Part of maintaining a regular routine is making sure that the CBD is legitimately enjoyable to take.  Therefore, finding a good e-juice flavor is a great way to ensure that you will always look forward to taking your dose of hemp.

Some of the formulas rely solely on plant terpenes for their flavor profiles, while others include flavoring extracts that allow the vape oil to take on the tastes of everything from sweet candies to refreshing fruits.

Good news is that finding a delicious vape oil flavor couldn’t be any easier.  Why?  Because there are many available on our website.  Just look through what’s in-stock and choose the e-juice delight that seems the most appealing to your unique vaping palate.

Factor #3: Ingredients

Another thing that matters tremendously is the ingredients in the e-liquid besides cannabidiol.  Most CBD vape oils consist of, of course, hemp extract, as well as vegetable glycerin, sometimes propylene glycol, flavoring, and more often than not, a carrier oil as well.  Look through the ingredients carefully to make sure that the formula is free of unnecessary or potentially harmful filler ingredients or agents.

Factor #4: CBD Quality

We cannot overwhelm enough the importance of looking for quality when choosing CBD in any form.  Cannabidiol can be both grown and extracted using any of a number of extraction methods, and each method can dictate the quality you end up with.  This is why it’s imperative that you look for third-party laboratory results when choosing a CBD vape oil.  These lab results tell you everything that needs to be known regarding the quality, purity, potency, and chemical composition of the hemp extract used to create that said e-liquid formula.

Factor #5: Form of Hemp Extract

If the goal is to really personalize your CBD vaping experience, make sure that you know which type of hemp extract you want, as this determines the unique chemical compounds that you take into your body per dose.  There are three different kinds of hemp extract, which are full spectrum, broad spectrum, and CBD isolate.

  • Full Spectrum: Complete variety of compounds in hemp, including a multitude of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids.
  • Broad Spectrum: THC-free alternative to full spectrum but still contains those cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids for which many vapers desire.
  • CBD Isolate: Pure form of cannabidiol and it contains no other cannabis plant compounds.

Each extract has a specific chemical composition, and no one is better than the other two, objectively speaking.  It is all a matter of which compounds you most desire out of the hemp plant.  Also, do not be afraid to experiment with all three in order to see how each type feels in the body.

Factor #6: Device’s Compatibility

Yes, compatibility is important when it comes to vaping goods, including CBD e-juice.  A CBD e-liquid product may not be compatible with all of the CBD devices that are on the market today, due to the compounds potentially breaking down at certain temperatures.  When looking at a cannabidiol-infused vape oil to purchase, find out what kind of refillable device or setup (kit) it’s compatible with before committing to buying it.  You may have to buy a new setup depending on the type of e-liquid that you choose to purchase.

Factor #7: The Price

It is always worth paying attention to the price of a CBD vape oil rather than blindly purchasing the first one that you find.  Prices can vary tremendously, and in many cases, the price reflects the quality.  Many factors influence the quality, including:

  • Bottle size
  • Sources of the ingredients
  • Hemp’s potency
  • Type of extraction method used to create the vape oil
  • Where the product is being shipped from

However, there are also some brands that just want to short-change customers, so always make sure that a higher price is warranted based on the factors discussed above.

Of course, extremely cheap CBD vape oil should make you slightly suspicious as well.  If a CBD e-juice is way below average price, you should inspect it to figure out why this may be the case.  Many times, an exceptionally low price can indicate sub-par ingredients and extraction methods, meaning the product is hardly worth it.

Try to Only Settle for the Best When It Comes to CBD Vape Oil

Next time you go shopping for a CBD e-liquid, keep these tips in mind.  This way, you’ll be able to get the ideal product for your needs, preferences, and goals.  At Pure CBD Vapors, we have an amazing array of unique hemp-infused e-juices so that everyone, including the pickiest of vapers, can find exactly what it is that they are looking for.

Here’s the latest CBD news:

  • The FDA published a report detailing their plans for data collection and research improvements in the area of CBD research and regulation.
  • Yale researchers have funded a randomized trial that will measure the effects of CBD on the female brain with a focus on anxiety.
  • A recent survey by University of Michigan researchers explores CBD usage prevalence and habits among fibromyalgia sufferers.

FDA Provides Framework for Future CBD Research

On January 8, a week before the Senate’s passage of the Cannabidiol and Marijuana Research Expansion Act, the Food and Drug Administration published an overview on their site detailing the current state of their CBD knowledge base as well as a “framework for building a more robust evidentiary foundation” for safer and smarter public use purposes.

The FDA addressed the following items in the report as they relate to their role in the advancement of CBD research and regulation:

  • The 2018 Farm Bill
  • CBD drug approval (epidiolex)
  • Public input on CBD issues from stakeholders
  • FDA-sponsored product sampling and research initiatives
  • Challenges in data collection
  • Unanswered questions

Of particular importance for the continued advancement of CBD research and regulation were the FDAs calls for refinement in “data approaches,” which emphasized an opt-in registry for CBD users, market-research insights, and other data-rich sources that will help assess CBD safety and efficacy more comprehensively.

With the help of the Cannabidiol and Marijuana Research Expansion Act, which is designed to support and streamline the CBD data-collection infrastructure, the FDA seeks to define the CBD “safety profile” more completely for consumer education and regulation purposes.

Yale Research Group to Explore CBD’s Effects on the Female Brain

A team of psychology experts from Women’s Health Research at Yale (WHRY) led by Assistant Professor of Psychiatry Dr. Sarah Lichenstein announced on January 11th that their department has funded a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study to examine the effects of CBD on the female brain.

Aiming to expand on the sparse number of findings related to gender-specific effects of CBD, the study will use functional MRI technology to assess activity levels in stress centers of the brain after CBD is administered to participants.

The Yale announcement cites known discrepancies in anxiety prevalence across genders—women are affected twice as often as men—and safety concerns related to benzodiazepine use as key motivators driving this vein of CBD research.

According to WHRY Director Carol M. Mazure, Ph.D., “Dr. Liechtenstein’s study will help us to understand the mechanisms underlying CBD and whether it has therapeutic potential for anxiety.”

Much of the gender-specific research that has been conducted on CBD was summarized in a 4-panel meeting held by the FDA in November of last year, which provided similar insights into the greater prevalence of anxiety and anxiety medication use in women.

Survey Shows CBD’s Popularity Among Fibromyalgia Patients

The results of a survey published in the Journal of Pain on January 2 by University of Michigan Medical School experts found that almost two-thirds of surveyed fibromyalgia patients are using or have used CBD products.

Survey data revealed that 29.4% of the 2,701 respondents used CBD in the past, and 32.4% were using it at the time, totaling 61.8%.

Researchers also assessed several important dimensions related to the perception and use of CBD by fibromyalgia patients, including:

  • Reasons for use and discontinuation
  • Communication with healthcare professionals about CBD
  • Perceptions of CBD effectiveness and safety

Most of the respondents used CBD to address “inadequate symptom relief,” and two-thirds of CBD users disclosed their use to their physicians.

Finally, respondents reported mild to moderate improvements across multiple symptoms.

Authors called for more studies to further devine CBD’s treatment potential and safety for this population and other chronic pain sufferers.
