We asked customers from across the globe for things they’ve always wondered about Nordic Oil and CBD. From dosing to drug tests and from pets to products, we’re here to answer  your questions.

What is the difference between full spectrum, broad spectrum and isolate?

Many consumers and potential customers are often confused by the different types of products they find on the market and are bamboozled by the terminology around CBD.
Here is a brief explanation of the 3 main types of CBD:

Full Spectrum: Full spectrum CBD products contain CBD along with other cannabinoids. Terpenes (the essential oils of the cannabis plant) and flavonoids are also extracted from the plant. Research has found that the combination of several cannabinoids enhances the so-called entourage effect. This effect leads to a more balanced feeling.

Broad spectrum: As with full spectrum CBD, several other cannabinoids and terpenes are present in broad spectrum CBD, however, in these products, the THC has fully been removed during the extraction process.

Isolate: Isolate products are the purest form of CBD. All other cannabinoids and parts of the plant have fully been removed.

How much CBD should I take?

The effectiveness of CBD varies from person to person. Concentration of CBD, metabolism and body weight can all impact how the body responds to CBD. We suggest starting with a smaller dosage and increasing slightly week by week until you feel the effects. For some people, the effects of the CBD will be felt immediately, but for others, it may take a number of weeks before effects are felt. You can’t overdose on CBD, but consuming too much could have effects including dry mouth, diarrhea and fatigue.

Does CBD make me high?

Our CBD products won’t get you high, and that’s a fact. This is because our products contain less than 0,05% THC. THC is the cannabinoid in the cannabis plant that causes a high, but in our production processes, we remove all THC, leaving just the good stuff (third party tests show that our products contain less than 0,05% THC).

Does CBD show up on a drug test?

In some cases an excessive consumption of CBD may lead to a positive drug test result. The reason for this is that some drug tests only recognize cannabinoids in general and do not make a distinction whether it is CBD or THC. In that case you should always ask for a blood test; those tests can determine which cannabinoids you have consumed.
If you consume our full spectrum products no need to worry! Our products only contain non-detectable amounts of THC, so it is highly unlikely that a drug test result will ever be positive.

CBD, THC, CBG, CBC – what do all these abbreviations stand for?

CBD = Cannabidiol
THC = Tetrahydrocannabinol
CBG = Cannabigerol (the mother of all cannabinoids)
CBC = Cannabichromene

Is CBD addictive?

No, CBD is not an addictive substance. Research indicates that CBD is rarely addictive and almost impossible to overdose on. The average CBD enthusiast consumes less than 50 mg per day and a person would have to consume 375 servings (or 18,750mg) within a very short time to cause potentially fatal effects. For this reason, a CBD overdose has never been documented.

Where can I buy CBD?

You can buy CBD in local retail stores, in some pharmacies and online.

Can I give CBD to my pets?

Just like humans, our pets also have an endocannabinoid system. Further studies will have to be conducted in order to make a final statement about CBD’s pharmacological properties on pets. In any case it is always advised that you consult with your vet first before administering CBD to your pet, especially when your pet suffers from certain medical ailments.

How is CBD extracted?

There are different ways to extract CBD from the hemp plant the best known ones are with either ethanol or CO2.
The most gentle way is the supercritical CO2 extraction. With the help of low temperatures and pressure, the hemp extract will gently be removed from the cannabis plant and contaminations are fully removed.

Should I take CBD only before going to sleep?

CBD does not possess psychoactive properties that would give you a euphoric effect. Hence there is no need to restrict consuming CBD oil only during the night. You can perform your normal day to day activities by consuming CBD oil at any time of the day.
On the other hand, if you are deprived of sleep, regular consumption of CBD oil can help improve your sleep. Studies have proven the role of sleep in cannabis use and its effect on the endocannabinoid system by regulating the circadian sleep-wake cycle and promoting sleep.
