JSW Steel increasing Tin plate capacity at Tarapur unit
JSW steel informed to its shareholders that they are focussing on increasing the tinplate capacity in india. For this company has invested 575 crore rupees at first instant and commissioned 2.5mt rolling mill for tinplate at its Tarapur unit. JSW keen on increasing its tinplate capacity over 5mt and for this another 419 crore invested in future at same facility for erection of 2.5 mt rolling. JSW steel has already takenover 50% share of punjab based vallabh steel so its capacity reached approx 6 mt after project completion. formerly TATA steel’s Tinplate india is the only major player in india with its 3.8mt capacity and enjoying domestic business without any major competitors. But now after entering of JSW steel in the business the local competition get increased. Tinplate sheets are variously used for packaging purposes.
