This is a terrific concrete slab calculator for estimating how many cubic yards to order to complete your concrete slabs, concrete floors, concrete walls, and concrete footings.

Just remember to add some extra concrete to your total order because running short is not an option.

Enter your length, width, and thickness then hit calculate and you’ll see how many cubic yards you need.

This concrete calculator also calculates cubic meters. Just plug in the numbers, make sure you choose meters, and hit calculate.

You’ll see both cubic yards and cubic meters in the answer area.

Slabs, Square Footings, or Walls

Hole, Column, or Round Footings

Circular Slab or Tube

I highly recommend this handy concrete calculator for your truck or office.

It will calculate concrete yardage for anything, it will also calculate volume, area, square footage and much more.

Definitely a time saver when you’re on the job.

How I calculate concrete for my jobs.

When estimating the amount of concrete for my concrete jobs, I always check the level of the subgrade and come up with an average thickness.

Most of the jobs I check, the dirt grade is rarely level. Using a laser level this can be done quite easily.

I use a laser level that self-levels itself when you turn it on, that way you can be sure the readings you get are accurate.

For a grade stick I use a long, narrow piece of wood with a yard stick attached to it. Using the yard stick allows me to be accurate to within 1/16 of an inch if I want to.

I usually spray paint the numbers I get from moving the receiver up and down on the yard stick, right onto the dirt, when I check the dirt grade.

This helps me remember how level or un-level the dirt is graded. I take multiple readings of the sub-grade depending on how big the area is.

Once I’ve covered the entire area, I can average the numbers together to get a final reading.

Once I’ve determined the average grade of the dirt, I can set the finish concrete floor grade up 4, 5, or 6 inches from that, depending on how thick I want my concrete floor.

When I know my average thickness of the concrete, I can plug those numbers into the concrete calculator it’ll tell me how many cubic yards to order.

After using the concrete calculator to figure the exact amount of concrete, I usually order anywhere from a half yard to a full yard extra, depending on how the subgrade is prepared.

If you make a mistake and don’t order enough concrete, (hopefully not) just call the concrete dispatcher and he will send another concrete truck with the balance on it.

But be prepared to wait if the concrete company is busy and doesn’t have a truck waiting.

Calculate concrete cubic yardage for slabs, walls, footings, columns, stairs, blocks, curbs, and gutters using the many different concrete calculators on this page.

Estimate the volume and weight of concrete you’ll need for any given area.

Figure out how many cubic yards of concrete you need in both US units of measure (feet and inches) and International system of units or metric units (meters and centimeters) of measurement.

The best way (and fastest way) to calculate concrete yardage is using a concrete calculator.

These concrete calculators are very accurate and will help you determine the volume of concrete you need for the type of project you’re doing.

Always add a little extra to the quantity estimated just to be on the safe side.

Rarely is any concrete project perfect and you don’t want to be left short on the amount you need.

You’ll be able to calculate concrete cubic yardage, weight, and how many bags you need for:

  • Concrete slabs
  • Concrete Walls
  • Concrete Footings
  • Circular slabs or Tubes
  • Columns or Sono-tubes
  • Concrete Curbs and Gutters
  • Concrete stairs

Concrete calculator formula for a slab or floor

If you want to use a formula to calculate concrete volume, I have a whole page like the picture above that shows you a written formula for:

  1. Square or Rectangular Slabs
  2. Round Slabs
  3. Concrete Walls
  4. Concrete Footers
  5. Square Columns
  6. Round Columns
  7. Concrete Stairs and Steps
  8. Concrete Curbs and Gutters

Concrete calculators for specific applications

Use the concrete calculators below to help you determine concrete yardage for your specific project.

Use the calculators above for estimating purposes only.

Always double check your calculations when you figure concrete for a project. Not having enough concrete to finish can be both frustrating and problematic.

Concrete is made from aggregate (stone), sand, cement, and water.

You can make your own concrete using the raw materials and my concrete mixing ratio formula or you can buy pre-mixed concrete in bags that you just add water to.

For large projects, ordering concrete from a ready mix concrete company is usually easier and faster.

Learn how to do your own concrete slab by taking my concrete slab course.

The concrete calculator APP for the Iphone and Android smartphone is terrific! I use it daily. The free desktop download is courtesy of Meet-Mr-Concrete.

Learn how I check the sub-grade to find the average thickness of a concrete floor on either the floors or slabs calculator page.

When I order concrete from a ready mix company, I always add 1/2 to 1 yard more than what it says on the calculator.
