As CBD oil and becomes more popular and trendy, a this question is on everyone’s lips: is CBD oil addictive? is vaping CBD addictive? For example, that it is possible to become psychologically addicted to THC with very heavy use. There is no significant physical dependence, but what is called cannabis dependence disorder. This disorder does not affect many people (only 1 in 10 users will become dependent on it), but does this also applies to CBD? We know that CBD doesn’t make you high, but can it make you addicted? That is the million dollar question is CBD oil addictive?

What is addiction?

Brains of people who are addicted

Addiction refers to a situation in which a substance or activity exerts total control over a person’s life to an very unhealthy degree. For example person does not give up the substance or activity. With a total effect on the body and mind, it is very difficult to stop, even when the will is there.

It’s not just about hard drugs or alcohol, it’s possible to be psychologically dependent on anything. Do you know anyone who gets a little too involved in their work? Who cant let go their phone? Who lives just for shopping? Who can’t stop playing fortnite? All of these people are fighting with addiction. When addicted self-control goes out of the window and any deprivation can be seriously unpleasant.

That was only the psychological addiction part. Physical addiction, which can affect people who use alcohol, cigarettes or hard drugs, is a completely different problem that only occurs with certain substances. if they were deprived of them can make the user physically ill and not just make him or her feel uncomfortable. Sometime can even lead to death.

What is CBD Oil?

First, let’s discuss what we’re dealing with. Cannabis (marijuana) contains hundreds of different cannabinoid compounds, two of which are THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol). Unlike THC, CBD doesn’t have psychoactive properties, which means it won’t get you high.

The biggest differences between CBD tinctures, CBD edibles, and CBD vape pens are speed of delivery and how long the effects last.

Facts About CBD Hemp Oil

The following are some key facts that can be valuable to know about CBD hemp oil:

  • Medical marijuana and industrial hemp are both derived from the Cannabis Sativa L. plant
  • When someone grows industrial or agricultural hemp, it’s done in a different way than cannabis that has THC
  • It’s nearly impossible for high THC products to be grown with hemp
  • It’s frequently argued that when CBD oils and other CBD products are made from industrial or agricultural hemp, it’s not actually a violation of the Controlled Substances Act
  • Unlike THC you won’t get a sense of euphoria from using CBD
  • If you’re getting CBD that’s made from industrial hemp you don’t need a prescription
  • People who are in favor of the therapeutic use of CBD oil feel it has physical and psychological benefits

Is CBD addictive?

The short, simple answer is no. At the molecular level, CBD is neither addictive, nor does it produce the so-called stoned effect that THC does.  Also, if you ask the World Health Organization (WHO), there is a simple answer. Based on all available studies, there is no evidence of any potential for abuse or addiction related to CBD. Specifically, the WHO cites a set of randomized, double-blind studies in which human subjects showed no physiological, psychoactive or other effects of a type to promote abuse.

March 2017 study published in the Journal of Drug and Alcohol Dependence examined this by administering various oral dosages of CBD to frequent marijuana users alone and in combination with smoked marijuana, which contained 5.3% to 5.8% THC. After analyzing the abuse liability profile of CBD compared with an oral placebo and active marijuana, the research team concluded that CBD did not display any signals of abuse liability.

it is extremely unlikely that addiction is possible. There are not even any horror stories in the tabloid press about potential users becoming addicted to CBD! That’s how much we know that there is no problem. Also a 2011 study concluded that CBD has a better safety profile compared to THC and other cannabinoids. Researchers found that high doses of CBD of up to 1,500 milligrams per day were well-tolerated by the human subjects.

Can you develop an addiction to CBD?

Now that you are reassured about the addiction, you are probably wondering whether or not it is possible to become addicted to CBD. World Health Organization (WHO) discovered in its review of a study in which mice were given CBD and THC, the subjects did not become addicted to the first molecule, but the second. This does not confirm anything for humans, but it strongly suggests that the development of addiction is not a problem with CBD Oils.

Does CBD have any side effects ?

With any substance, you would like to know about side effects. Good news is CBD itself has not been shown to produce significant side effects at any dose. However, there is some evidence that CBD may conflict with other substances, anticoagulants being a good example. Specifically, researchers have found that CBD disrupts the functioning of the cytochrome P450 enzyme, which is responsible for breaking down all kinds of drugs in the body.

Can CBD Help Fight Addiction ?

Overcoming Addiction with CBD

Studies suggests that CBD can also be used to help combat the adverse effects of THC, such as cannabis withdrawal symptoms. In a 2013 study report, researchers administered CBD to a 19-year-old woman with cannabis withdrawal syndrome over a ten day period, which effectively resulted in reduced withdrawal symptoms. Another study report, suggested Compared with smokers of low-CBD strains, the study found that smokers of high-CBD strains showed reduced attentional bias to drug and food stimuli, as well as lower self-rated liking of cannabis stimuli. The research team concluded that “CBD has potential as a treatment for cannabis dependence” and could offer a potential help for treatment of other addictive disorders.

CBD Oil has also shown promise in human models. A May 2019 study, published in the American Journal of Psychiatry, found that CBD could be effective in reducing cravings associated with heroin addiction. To conduct the study, researchers recruited 42 adults who had been using heroin for an average of 13 years. The subjects were divided into three groups: one group was given 1000mg of CBD, another 300mg of CBD, and another a placebo. Compared with the placebo, those who were administered CBD significantly reduced both the craving and anxiety induced by the drug cues.

So I’ve had a slight escapism problem with the since it was introduced into my life. Because I live in a state with it not being legal and I have noticed how much it holds me back I have been wanting to make the transition to cbd for my anxiety.

I have several questions on this topic. Most of the reason I smoked was to get sleep I take adhd meds and I have no desire to eat or sleep. Is cbd still a good alternative being that I have these problems or would people suggest others. Im really worried about getting in trouble due to having cbd because my job drug tests, and the smell is very similar to weed…

Suggestions would be much appreciated!
